Overwhelmed by where to start with decorating your new Dubai apartment?
Buying (or renting) your new apartment in Dubai should be a happy occasion, not one that fills you with apprehension. It’s quite possible though, that the home you fell in love with when you viewed it as a show home doesn’t look quite the same now that you’re standing in it surrounded by boxes and not a lot else.
Don’t worry though! This is your perfect opportunity to make your new apartment not only look as good as it did when you viewed it, but to make it look even better, and more reflective of your character. We’re here to help you do just that. Starting from the very beginning is the most exciting time to really look at your new space, evaluate how you want it to look, the way you want it to make you feel and then explore how we can achieve these things.
Determining the purpose of each room
There are no rules here. What the agent told you was the master bedroom doesn’t have to be. It could be that that specific room would work better as a living room, for example. Depending on how many people you share your home with, your ages, lifestyle, hobbies and interests, your apartment might work better with open planned areas, secluded, quiet zones or a combination of both.
You could benefit from turning a large room into two smaller rooms, to create a cosy home cinema and a games room, for example. Or you might remove a wall to make two smaller rooms one large focal kitchen/diner with a large, central island. The options are endless.
Discovering your interior design style
Once you know how you want your space to work for you, we will discuss how you want it to look. This isn’t as simple as asking your favourite colours. Your favourite colour might not translate well onto a wall, for example. We are more likely to ask you the type of feeling you would like each room to give you, and to ask you to show us images of similar rooms, style, patterns and designs you like.
This is, of course, a simplified explanation of what is a far more structured process. Behind-the-scenes we will have looked at the practicalities of lighting (both natural and artificial), electrical supplies, plumbing, we’ll have taken measurements, worked out the directional flow of traffic around your property and more. The really fun part though, is learning about you. Discovering what inspires you, what makes you tick, and what we know you will love to open the door to every day and get to call home.
We’re always happy to show you past projects we’ve worked on for clients just like you who had a blank canvas that they were unsure where to start with.
